March 30th was the first day of official lockdown in Moscow. Starting from that day I began to make one ring every day until the lockdown was over 80 days later. I was limited by my home workshop, tools and materials I could find around me, without using any 3d-printing, casting or laser-cutting. I used my old toys, pieces of trash from the street, painted pieces of plywood etc. Many works were connected to the dates they were made in: one depicted a blossoming cherry flower (when I first noticed one outside my window), another - a birthday candle, yet another one - a tiny figure with umbrella. I would like to present this body of work as a series of photos with dates and descriptions - similar to a calendar.
Two weeks before the lockdown in my city was officially enforced, I was alredy staying at home as a precaution - the businesses were closing, projects canceled, flights postponed, and I was in deep mourning for every plan I made that wasn't meant to happen. But after two weeks I gained some strength and decided to create a challenge for myself: one ring for each day of the lockdown. This challenge kept me sane and cheerful and busy - and also taught me a few things about myself, what I like and how I operate, that I didn't know before.
