I bought some large rusting paper fasteners at a junk shop and the works just evolved. I wanted to make the pieces using cold connections only so the brooch backs are held on by tension and wrapping wire.

These pieces were made during lockdown in New Zealand for an online exhibition directly inspired by the pandemic and its effect on artists. The two brooches are the result of contemplating my past life experiences of infertility. Since those dark times, I have discovered that an alternate type of creativity can be found in the most unlikely, restricted and barren of places if looked for hard enough.
