Viktoria Münzker

For me, to create jewellery, is to make the inner world visible. Colours and forms of biological organisms transformed in the mind and through the hands. Amidst the chaos, there is harmony. Millions of fascinating species, both animals and plants depend on each other. Some of them fall into oblivion. I want to protect and cherish the natural world. Nature itself defies expectations and comprehensibility. The opulence of color combinations, stories and myths, paired with material characteristic of titanium and wood, result in fantasy creations which approach real sea animals in different ways. Contrast and contradiction becomes sharper by using divergent materials side by side. For me it is important to feel the material, its smooth or rough surface, its natural softness or its temperature. I try to involve as many senses as possible to create a nearly vivid and strong jewellery piece. I’ve abstracted the body into a construction and deconstruction of materials, and gave it a new form powered by colours.

When pandemic monopolized our headline news, the need for positivity and a brighter future has become more important than ever. Due to Covid-19 we had to stop. We had to pause our daily hurrying, everyday stress and our routine. A new chance to create a world based on love, help and understanding, living in harmony with nature and society. To surround yourself with colours is a good way to think positive. I use anodized titanium to add colour to the metal parts and different stones to highlight the pieces. The form and the shape of the pieces remind of a Coronaviridae, spherical particles reminiscent an image of the solar corona. A shape, found everywhere in nature, locked in our subconscious.
