Poop emojis originated from putting a tray of meringues in the oven. The outcome allowed for extended laughter and a solid week of jokes. Liquid optimism, happened pretty much every day at 4 pm, as a form of optimism therapy during lockdown, period during which, according to my partner, I mastered the methodologies of alcohol mixing. Looking at things through a cocktail glass made it much easier to get along.

Being locked down in the antipodean safety of New Zealand, was at times uncomfortable and confronting. I found my self getting irritated by the lack of representation of complex themes in my work and began to think of ways to translate some of my experiences into the language of art jewellery. In the meantime, I cooked and drank quite a bit.
